These Dark Days is a black-and-white walking series made in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland with a mobile phone, using intentional camera movement and low-light blur. Moving through shade, foliage, infrastructure and uncertain routes, the works turn the city into an unsettled landscape of thresholds, shadows, weather and partial recognition.
dark days irl
it’s unsustainable, yet here we are,
days, weeks, months, and years without proper nourishment,
creating, sharing, connecting, supporting
while algorithms split apart,
paying plays to power
and rising seas drown many,
yet here, we are treading water,
survivors of an unsinkable ship
slipping below waves,
our void hands wait, dragging us down
