The Flower Garden

The Flower Garden brings together colour photographs of flowers, foliage and garden space made with a mobile phone using intentional camera movement. Some retain the recognisable shape of a bloom, while others loosen into repeated petals, drifting forms and broader fields of colour.

For some works, a magnifying glass was held, tilted and moved in front of the phone camera. It bends, repeats and reflects details, adding another layer of distortion. Combined with camera movement, flowers and surrounding growth stretch, overlap and dissolve across the frame.

Colour carries as much weight as the flowers themselves. Reds flare out of shadow, yellows spread through dense growth, and pale blossoms merge with light. Across the sequence, the garden shifts between close observation, landscape and abstraction.
